Pescara Conservatory - Popular Music School
The School of Popular Music of the Conservatory of Pescara is one of the few schools in Italy in this specific area of modern music. It has two main courses of study: Contemporary Writing and Production; Performance (Voice, Guitar, Piano/Keyboards, Electric Bass and Drums). The School offers a 3 years Bachelor Degree and a 2 years Master Degree, developing Musical talent and inspiring creativity.
The Contemporary Writing and Production course is a composition course focusing on the most modern IT technology and aims at preparing candidates for a career as composer- arrangers by enabling them to write their own compositons in a number of Contemporary Styles. The Performance course aims at creating expert musicians and top-class performers. At the end of the Degrees in Popular Music, students will have acquired the technical skills and abilities to allow them to put their own artistic ideas into practise.
The two study courses are in many ways similar in that they require the Composers  to have competent skills in the area of Ensemble Performance whilst the Performers need to have a solid base in arranging in different contemporary styles. The basic subjects (Music Theory, Sight Reading, Ear Training, Contemporary Rhythm) are studied along side others such as (Contemporary Arranging, Ensemble Performance, Improvisation Theory and Techniques) as well as subjects such as Music IT Studies and Computer Music.
