ARTISTS | J. Agnew

J. Agnew was born on February 5, 1986 in Cleveland, Ohio, and began to play drums at age five. His father, a drummer, and his mother, a trained classical singer, taught James how to converse with music and the value in respecting the art. “Showtime,” as he has been most aptly nicknamed, has a profound background in playing for live stage productions and studio recordings, yet this was not something he learned overnight. The young J. Agnew gained most of his talent playing in church, and further developed his abilities through studies at the Cleveland School of the Arts.

Showtime’s impressive resume includes such names as Anthony Hamilton (Changing the World Tour 2005 – 2007), Phil Perry, Carlos Santana (USA tour, 2007) among others. In 2009, Agnew appeared in the cast of the MTV series Diddy’s: Making His Band. That opportunity lead to him being asked to join Sean Kingston’s band for the Tomorrow tour in 2009, which later put him on the My World National Tour featuring Justin Bieber (2010 – 2012).

These days Mr. Agnew stays busy touring with several acts: R&B crooner Johnny Gill and Stellar Award-winning Gospel artist Vashawn Mitchell; not to mention his production company, clinics and session recordings. The Spring of 2012 will find him again on a world tour in support of Sean Kingston’s latest release.

J. Agnew has also worked with Tonya Baker, Earnest Pugh, “Who Do You Say I Am”, Flo Rida, Sean “Diddy” CombsKindred the Family Soul, J. Moss, Bob Singleton's Golden Gospel Singers and many others.
