ARTISTS | John B. Arnold

Born in New York City, drummer/composer/programer John B. Arnold has been performing as a leader and a sideman for over twenty-five years. His playing style follows the jazz and R&B music of the 70s as well as the tradition of New Orleans. His playing style is essential with a marked cut and dried definition. He is known for an unorthodox approach to the instrument, using unusually short sticks and an original sticking technique.
Since 1996, John has released three CDs under his name, with a fourth ("Electro for Children") slated for release in Winter 2013. He has travelled Europe and the United States extensively, also living in Rome and Berlin for an extended period. He is a composer as well, and learned greatly from his grandfather, great American songwriter Hoagy Carmichael.

John has been a teacher in Berlin (Drum Factory Berlin), New York (Drummers World, Centre School NYC) and Rome (Timba Scuola di Percussioni, Universita' della Musica, Percento Musica, Fonderia delle Arti), where he currently resides.

Since 2000, John has interested himself in electronic music, working on what he calls "electronic sound tables" as well as teaching an electronic music course in Rome and other schools. His playing style reflects various contemporary genres such as: hip hop, go go beat, drum & bass, jungle, swonk, trip hop, trance, dubstep, 2 step and newbeat, which John also teaches in his courses.
